We are offering two tours from Port Douglas on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Welcome! Tropical Far North Queensland feels like a Garden of Eden, and is teeming with Australia's richest biodiversity.

CairnsAirportShuttle.net, in association with Excellence Coaches and Tours, is proud to offer our specifically designed 'behind the scenes' tours, which show you two fabulous main attractions of our area, and incorporate some 'locals only' type stops. At these local only stops  you get to see, smell, taste, hear and photograph special little secrets and oases off the beaten track, and away from the overcrowded main tourist spots.

These are private charter tours for 5 adults or more allowing you to set the pace, and enjoy a more personal tour experience.
Our special tours depart from Port Douglas on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.00am.
  • Morning stop: Crocodile cruise commencing approx 11.15 on the beautiful Daintree River, near the Cape Tribulation Ferry, to the north of Mossman and Port Douglas. The drive from Port Douglas takes approx 45 mins, which allows us to stop for 30 mins at the Mossman Markets on Saturdays. Also marvel here at the huge Raintrees, forming a canopy over the Church grounds, planted with seeds imported many years ago from Jamaica by Dan Hart who donated the land upon which the church sits. On Wednesdays, we provide a shorter stop at the Mossman market locations for photo opportunity of the historic St David's Anglican Church and Raintrees. This provides Wednesday visitors the extra bonus of a 15 min stop at beautiful Newell Beach for another photo opportunity of an almost deserted tropical beach. Newell Beach really makes you feel like you are standing on top of Australia with barely a soul in sight, although you can look across the bay to Port Douglas in the hazy distance). Newell Beach is beautiful to look at, but remember no swimming here as this is crocodile country!
  • Afternoon stop starting approx 12.30pm - 2.30pm:  Visit the Mossman Gorge Visitor Centre in time for lunch, where there is a great cafeteria OR bring your lunch and picnic in the Gorge. Mossman Gorge is a 5 min shuttle ride (included in your tour) to walking tracks in the Daintree which provide all travellers with track access options suitable for all ages, including wheelchairs. The famous boulders of the Mossman River are accessible from a short 5 min walk. Dip your feet in or walk another 2 mins and view from the lookout. The more fit and able can press on and enjoy walking to the swing bridge and across into the Daintree Forest as far as the fig tree shown below. Note: The 2 hours allocated to this stop allow sufficient  for either a relaxing visit to the boulders in the Mossman river, and sufficient time for more able bodies individuals to visit the fig tree below). The Mossman Gorge is the best way to see a slice of the Daintree Forest.
  • Time permitting  on Wednesdays and Saturdays we always try and stop at the Shannonvale Waterhole for cold drinks and ice cream, before returning to Port around 3.15pm.

Additional local treats: Saturday Morning Market, Mossman
  • Saturday's tour includes a 30 minute stop at the amazing 'locals' community market in Mossman. Beneath huge Raintrees this is both a stunning photo opportunity, and a chance to buy the freshest tropical fruits of the region. Local farmers from the Atherton tablelands and surrounding Douglas Shire district have tables laden with several types of passion fruit, dragon fruit, bananas, fresh coconuts, paw paw, up to eight different types of mango etcetera. Other offerings include massage, fresh vanilla ice cream, flowers and buskers.  This market is a gorgeous FNQ market quite distinct from the vibe of the bigger and busier Sunday Market. A real gem, and did we mention picturesque?
  • See also the historic St David's Anglican Church. Visitors are permitted free entry into this gorgeous stone church on Saturdays.

We also include (as time permits):
  • Visit to Shannonvale waterhole, favoured by locals. A fantastic photo opportunity and chance for a swim in crystal clear waters, with freshwater fish.
  • A roadside stop to see pineapples growing. Did you know it takes two years to grow a pineapple?
  • Newell Beach photo stop of an almost deserted and picturesque FNQ beach.
  • A last stop of the day for a photo opportunity from the lookout from the hill in Port Douglas. Where are all the houses? From the lookout you can see the benefit of Port Douglas's 2 story max building code. The houses are almost beneath the palm trees!

Pricing: Our 6 hour tours are dedicated to family groups and private charters. You can set the pace, and enjoy special experiences together. Price includes Crocodile tour admissions, Mossman Visitor Centre to Mossman Gorge shuttle transfers. Mueslie bars, Ice cream and Cold Drinks. (Cut lunch of sandwiches and rolls optional extra).
